Beth Ryan is a proven leader at Columbia College Chicago in her role as a Lecturer in the Department of Business and Entrepreneurship. She has been an educator at Columbia since 2005, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Leadership, Management, Public Speaking and Organizational Behavior targeted to the creative industries. In addition to teaching, Beth is deeply immersed in departmental initiatives that focus on student engagement and retention by incorporating experiential methods in the classroom. She also plays a key role in ongoing faculty development by leading workshops to strengthen 21st Century teaching strategies. Considering how emerging technologies enhance the learning process, Beth led an online task force to transform Columbia’s experiential arts management face to face courses into online courses. She continues to evolve curriculum both in the classroom and in online environments to connect content with industry examples for learners. Her passion for education and commitment to the development of human behavior is a common theme in her portfolio career. She brings over 20 years of experience in management and consulting positions in a variety of business, nonprofit and education institutions to her teaching experience. Prior to teaching at Columbia, her career spans many industries with a theme of building human potential. Her prior experience includes serving in a consulting capacity with the following organizations: ● University of Chicago Booth School of Business, coaching MBA students and alumni in leadership development and career advancement ● Right Management, a global leader in outplacement services, coaching executive leaders through career advancement and transition ● Kittleman & Associates, a leading non-profit executive search firm, recruiting leadership and management talent and developing internal staff for growth Beth earned a Master of Science degree in Human Resource Development & Administration from Barry University in Miami, Florida and a Bachelor of Science in Communication Management from The University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.
