Dr Duncan Low

Duncan worked for many years in the professional arts sector in the UK and Canada. In 2008 he entered SFU’s Urban Studies program where he examined Vancouver’s 2010 Cultural Olympiad. He has authored several articles on the impact of the 2010 Olympics on the arts community; he has also given numerous presentations on the subject including to the London 2012 cultural planners meeting. Duncan has completed extensive work with diverse cultural organizations across Canada and the UK. He is experienced in analyzing and synthesizing arts organization data, having undertaken similar projects on a local and national scale. Duncan’s thesis, Federal Arts Policy 1957-2014: The Rhetoric and The Reality, touches on the wealth of and challenges in using government information. He is currently working on a data visualization project in Vancouver and the Creation Fund in Ottawa.
